Olivier Award winner and everyone’s favorite Broadway Diva, Lesli Margherita kicks off the Theater People Podcast Summer series on Sunday May 8th at 6pm at Pearl Studios, 500 8th ave, 12th Floor Room 1214  in New York. Doors open at 5pm.

Patrick Hinds with talk with Lesli Margherita about Matilda, Dames at Sea, Zorro, and her new book, Neck Punch and Carry On: Advice from “The Queen.” She’ll  perform a song or two, followed by a Q & A.

668471-250The Theater People Podcast Summer Series brings Broadway’s biggest stars face to face with their biggest fans in an intimate setting. It’s one part interview, one part performance, and one part hang out session. Tickets are $10. Click here for tickets and here for more information.

Lesli goes on at 6pm, but the doors open at 5pm. Come hang out with Patrick and Producer Mike, mingle with your fellow Theater People and make new friends. Show tunes will be playing the  sound system and refreshments will be for sale.

Time permitting, Lesli will stick around after and sign your CDs and maybe (we said maybe!) take a picture with you!

Patrick Hinds is a fantastic force of nature. A true theater enthusiast, he has seen more shows on and off Broadway than most who make it their career to do so. In attempt to do the same, the Theater People podcast was born. The person you always want at a party, Patrick’s energy and joy is infectious. Patrick is the author of two books, The Whole World Was Watching and The Q Guide to NYC Pride, and he lives in Upper, Upper Manhattan with his husband and two cats.

Mike Jensen received the Kennedy Center ACTF Sound Design Award for his work on the play Vanities. His design work in New York includes Open Your Eyes, which was part of the 2008 Fringe Festival and A Is For Abortion, part of the 2013 Fringe Festival. Lia Chang is an actor, a multi-media content producer and co-founder of Bev’s Girl Films, making films that foster inclusion and diversity on both sides of the camera. Bev’s Girl Films’ debut short film, Hide and Seek was a top ten film in the Asian American Film Lab’s 2015 72 Hour Shootout Filmmaking Competition, and she received a Best Actress nomination. In Episode 406 of “Something New” — a musical theatre podcast that interviews artists and premieres original songs — award-winning songwriter Joel B. New sat down with Garth Kravits, co-creator and co-host of “Playball Podcast.”

Garth Kravits is an actor, singer, musician and composer and award-winning filmmaker. He made his Broadway debut in the musical The Drowsy Chaperone. Kravits has appeared in the Off-Broadway productions of Old Jews Telling Jokes and Toxic Audio Loudmouth; regionally in Gettin’ The Band Back Together, Meet Me in St. Louis: A Live Radio Play, and It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play, (Bucks County Playhouse); The Producers (Gateway Playhouse) and Happy Days: A New Musical (Goodspeed Opera House); and as Benny Southstreet in the regional tour of Guys and Dolls. On television, Kravits has guest starred on “30 Rock,”” The Blacklist,” “Nurse Jackie,” “Hostages,” “Tin Man” and “The Carrie Diaries”. New is currently in pre-production for his solo EP Cabot Cove, a collection of songs inspired by book titles referenced to in the TV series “Murder, She Wrote,” starring Tony Award winner Angela Lansbury. The Kickstarter campaign to fund said album runs thru April 6th.

Joel B. New is the recipient of an American Theatre Wing Jonathan Larson Grant for his music and lyrics. His stage projects include TO HELL AND BACK, MACKENZIE & THE MISSING BOY, AWAKENING (book: Jenny Stafford, music: J. Oconer Navarro), STANDALONE, AGATHA IN THE ATTIC, and RSVP.
