Lia Chang and Garth Kravits’ Hide and Seek is an official selection of the 2016 Women’s Voices Now (WVN) Online Film Festival.
Lia Chang (Big Trouble In Little China, New Jack City, King of New York) stars in Hide and Seek, a film she co-produced and co-wrote with Garth Kravits (The Drowsy Chaperone, “The Blacklist,” “Nurse Jackie,” “Hostages” ), who is also featured in the film. Hide and Seek addresses the topic of media images that validate beauty in contemporary America. Hide and Seek was named among the top ten films of the 2015 Asian American Film Lab‘s 72 Hour Shootout -Two Faces – Filmmaking Competition, and Chang received a Best Actress nomination for her starring role. Kravits shared camera operator duties with Evan Daves, composed the original score with Tyler Kent, directed and edited the film.
The 3rd edition of the Women’s Voices Now (WVN) online film festival runs from June 1-July 1, 2016. WVN amplifies the voices of all women by promoting the free expression of women’s struggles for civil, economic, political, and gender rights worldwide. By providing free online platforms for film, art, writing, and social-media activism, WVN connects people and resources striving for global women’s rights. The annual online film festival is part of WVN’s mission to foster and enhance the international dialogue on women’s rights and encourage engagement from a worldwide audience.
The 2016 festival includes documentary, experimental, and narrative films, featuring diverse and underreported stories of women’s struggles. HIDE AND SEEK is among 53 films in The Festival this year which have been selected because they engage and educate through storytelling technique and technical skill. The films originated from approximately 20 countries, and are directed and produced by men and women from all walks of life and filmmaking experience.

All selected films participate in the online film festival, during which they are available to a worldwide audience that determines the recipients of audience choice recognition. A distinguished panel of judges chooses the winners of the $9,000 in cash prizes to be awarded in this festival cycle, to the best documentary, best narrative, best experimental, and the Leslie J. Sacks Grand Prize films, to be announced in July 2016. Films that remain in the WVN archives following the festival are incorporated into free educational screening packages utilized by the WVN Ambassador program, universities, and community centers, worldwide.
