2016 Sacramento Asian Pacific Film Festival Accepting Submissions through May 6

The 2016 Sacramento Asian Pacific Film Festival is currently accepting completed film and video projects which address their mission to celebrate our diverse experiences and to advance the roles of Asian and Pacific Islander Americans in film and new media. The 2016 SAPFF runs May 27 – 28, 2016 at The Guild Theater, 2828 35th St, Sacramento, CA 95817.

Films must be made by or about Asian and Pacific Islander Americans. All lengths and genres will be considered.

International films will also be considered, but must be in the English language or contain English subtitles. International films should contain thematic material and content which speaks to the interests of Asian and Pacific Islanders living in the United States.

Official Selections will be announced via email and online on or before May 14, 2016. Films will be exhibited either during the evening of May 27, or the day and evening of May 28, 2016.

On the Submission Form, you will be asked to provide a link to a private screener with password.

Additional Materials and Exhibition Format

If your film or video project is chosen for exhibition, additional materials will be required, including:

  • Headshots of cast and crew
  • 1-5 promotional stills of production, behind-the-scenes
  • Film screenshots

These should be high-resolution digital images in .JPG or .TIFF format, minimum of 300DPI, and should be accompanied by a separate document with captions, identification of subjects, and photo credits as necessary.

You may also be requested to provide posters, trailers or other video clips, as well as additional promotional and marketing material.

Exhibition Format

Depending on the quality of your project screener, a higher resolution or format may be required. Our preferred exhibition file format is Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) 1920×1080 24p 48KHz. We will also accept a presentation-ready copy on BluRay disc.

Film Categories

Drama

Mystery, suspense, thriller. We love these stories and the character development. Submit your narrative fiction for consideration!

Comedy

We want to see your creative take on humor, satire or parody. So, make us laugh!

Documentaries

We’re looking for documentaries capturing the reality of past and present experiences of Asians and Pacific Islanders. All documentaries are welcome. But this year, we’re looking for a focus on the refugee and immigrant experience.

Foreign

We’re welcoming international foreign-language films of all genres. Please include English subtitles.

LGBTQ

Films incorporating lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender characters. We would love to see films portraying the LGBTQ community’s triumphs, struggles and experiences in Asian culture.

Submission and Payment Deadlines

The online Submission Form must be submitted along with Submission Fee payment according to the following deadlines and payment schedule.

Submissions will not be considered after May 6, 2016.
Early Bird Deadline $10: March 18, 2016
Regular Deadline $20: April 15, 2016
Late Deadline $35: May 6, 2016

Submission Process

You may access the Submission Form using the link below. You will be asked to provide information about your film or video project including Synopsis, Director’s Biography, Director’s Filmography, Director’s Statement about the submitted project, and cast and crew information.

After the submission of your form, you will be provided with a link to make an online payment within 24 hours, and according to the deadline and payment schedule.
